I am proud to say: Yes, I've learned how to cope with it!

Remember how my friends and I got hooked on these games desperately trying to earn as much money as we can. But our health problems and constant academic failures signaled that it was time to change something. I had to think about how to make sure that we could keep everything in balance. Actually, I resolved this problem faster: maybe I'm more disciplined than my friends, and that's why I was able to stick to the set time limits for the game. But it was a really hard road for my friends.

How do you handle it, guys?

Hey Oscar!

First off, kudos to you for finding that balance and taking charge of your gaming habits! It sounds like you've been on quite the journey, and I admire your determination to prioritize your health and academic success. 🤩

Finding that balance can definitely be tough, especially when gaming gets super addictive. Personally, I try to set some strict time limits for myself and stick to them as best as I can. But hey, we all have our moments of weakness, right? 😅

I usually play games in my free moments from work. This is no more than an hour a day. Gaming helps me refocus and relax a bit, which is the perfect balance for me.⚖️  On weekends we spend time playing games with my husband; This is a great way of leisure and relaxation.

@navy_avatar It seems to me that setting time limits is the most effective option in this case. Yes, it's not easy to stick to it, sometimes you just want to break, especially if the peak of a game comes... Well, that's a great opportunity to cultivate discipline 👍

@katarina Thanks for sharing! It's cool that you and your husband play together. I read somewhere that sharing activities (playing games, for example, or other hobbies) allows you to control the involvement in the process. For example, if one person gets bored, the second one will understand this and mark the need to finish this activity and switch to something else. But it seems to me that it also works in the opposite direction and can lead to addiction as well 😬

Hello Oscar! It's really great to hear about your journey towards finding balance in your life. For those who may still be struggling with finding that equilibrium, here are a few strategies that could be useful:
1. Set Clear Boundaries: Just like you did, setting specific time limits for gaming can be a helpful tool.
2. Prioritize Health: Regular exercise and enough sleep are key for maintaining energy.
3. Find Alternative Hobbies: Engaging in other activities that you enjoy can fill the gap left by reducing gaming time. This could be anything from sports to music to reading.

I used to spend a lot of time gaming too (about 10-12 hours a day), but managing my time and picking up new hobbies helped me find balance. Now I spend around 3-4 hours playing games. 😊

Hello! Balancing gaming and life can be tricky, but it's definitely doable with some effort. I find it helps to set specific times for gaming, like using it as a reward after finishing important tasks (it helped me). It’s also important to take regular breaks and not let gaming interfere with responsibilities like work, school, or spending time with family and friends. Finding that balance keeps gaming fun and prevents it from becoming a source of stress. Everyone’s balance looks different, so it’s about finding what works best for you and sticking to it 😊
